AC Milan, Inter compete for first trophy of the season in Italian Super Cup

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- A press conference was held ahead of the Italian Super Cup which pits the reigning Serie A champions, AC Milan against the Coppa Italia champions, Inter Milan at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Brought by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Sport as part of the sporting events in the second Diriyah Season, the press conference was kicked-off by AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli and its captain Davide Calabria to present the long-awaited tournament.

"It's an important game with a trophy at stake. Games against Inter in recent seasons have always been difficult and intense.

"On the day before a final, it's neither easy nor difficult. They are a strong opponent who have always been difficult for us, even in the games we have won. We will have to put in the best performance possible," said Pioli in a statement.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi said: "We know the importance of this match, and what's more, it's a derby in the final and we will try to play a great match.

"It's the first trophy on offer this season and we want to do well," he added.

Asked what he would see as the significance of winning tomorrow, Inzaghi said he considered it a trophy and that not all teams are able to get to this point.
