Barcelona working on a swap deal with Inter Milan involving Depay and Argentine forward

According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona and Inter Milan are working on the possibility of an exchange deal involving Memphis Depay and Joaquin Correa in the ongoing transfer window.
The two clubs were already said to be considering swapping midfielders Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic this month. And it now seems like another operation is also being negotiated by the two clubs.
Depay has fallen out of favour at Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez. The Dutchman's contract expires in the summer and the Catalans are willing to part ways with him this month, provided that they replace him with another forward.
Atletico Madrid have been intent on signing the Netherlands international but are unwilling to include Yannick Carrasco as part of the deal, while the Blaugrana are insisting on the Belgian international.
It has seemingly paved the way for Inter Milan to explore the possibility of a transfer, with the Nerazzurri reportedly prepared to offer Joaquin Correa in exchange.
The Argentine international arrived at Inter in 2021 from Lazio but has not clicked as expected. In 57 matches for the Italians, Correa has scored nine goals and set up five more, with six of those 14 goal involvements coming in the ongoing campaign.
The 28-year-old has started just three Serie A games this season, showing that manager Simone Inzaghi does not entirely trust the versatile forward. So, the possibility of a swap deal could be on the table.
In fact, Gerard Romero adds that the two clubs are 'very close' to sealing the operation, although Depay would need to okay the transfer operation, which would be a challenge.
It remains to be seen if this deal progresses, although AS journalist Javi Miguel is not entirely optimistic about the possibility of the deal involving Depay and Correa going through.
The journalist adds that Barça continue to favour Atletico's Carrasco, even though Atletico are not willing to play ball at the moment.
